About CoveredCallETFHQ

Hi, I'm Erik.

Erik

I'm 49 years old and I've been investing since my early twenties. Like most people, I started with a 401k, then opened a Traditional IRA, sticking with a straightforward growth fund approach for years. Over time I diversified — added a rental property, built up a Bitcoin position when most people still thought it was a joke, and kept compounding across multiple asset classes. Growth was always the goal. Risk was always part of the plan.

But as I started approaching 50, the question shifted. I wasn't just thinking about building wealth anymore — I was thinking about living off it. That meant monthly income. And that meant covered call ETFs kept showing up on my radar.

The problem? The information available online was a mess. YouTube videos contradicting each other. Reddit threads full of conflicting opinions. Articles ranking funds purely by yield with zero mention of NAV erosion. I spent hundreds of hours piecing together a clear picture of which funds were genuinely worth owning and which were quietly destroying capital while advertising double-digit income.

I built the tools I wished had existed. A live grader. A NAV erosion tracker. An Inc/10k metric that cuts through yield marketing and shows you what you'll actually pocket. I started using them for my own portfolio — then decided to share them.

That's CoveredCallETFHQ.

My Investing Background

Early 20s
Started with a 401k and Traditional IRA — long-term growth fund approach, diversified index exposure, letting compounding do the work.
30s
Added real estate — purchased a rental property as a tangible income-generating asset outside the stock market.
30s–40s
Built a Bitcoin position as a high-conviction speculative growth bet. Still holding. Still volatile. Still worth it.
Late 40s
Discovered covered call ETFs. Spent hundreds of hours researching the category — forums, YouTube, academic papers, fund prospectuses — to separate the genuinely good funds from the yield traps. Built this site to share what I found.

What This Site Is

CoveredCallETFHQ is an independent, self-funded research and data site. There are no advertisers, no sponsored fund recommendations, and no financial relationships with any ETF issuer. Every grade and score is generated by our proprietary methodology applied uniformly to all funds — the data either supports a Grade A or it doesn't.

The free dashboard covers 30 funds with daily-updated grades, NAV erosion data, and income metrics. A Pro tier is coming — it will expand coverage to 200+ funds, add a portfolio income calculator, and include grade change email alerts so you're notified the moment a fund's status changes. I'm not a licensed financial advisor and nothing on this site is financial advice. I'm an investor who did the research, built the tools, and is sharing both. Use the data to make better decisions — then verify with your own due diligence and consult a professional for personalized guidance.
